Boyfriend Chopped Off Victim’s Hair Amidst Domestic Assault

An Illinois man was arrested after his girlfriend reported that he punched, choked, and clipped her hair off with scissors during an alleged domestic dispute.

A 34-year-old male suspect and his 20-year-old girlfriend who live together in Decatur reportedly became engaged in a situation in the early morning hours on Tuesday leading to an alleged assault upon the woman.

The details regarding what caused the alleged fight were not reported, but when the woman tried to call the authorities her boyfriend allegedly grabbed her phone in a purported attempt to thwart her efforts to hail law enforcement.

An officer with the Decatur Police Department dispatched to the couple’s residence and took a statement from the alleged victim.

The woman reportedly told the officer that her boyfriend assaulted her by punching her in the face many times after he restricted her breathing by choking her. She said the suspect then restrained her and grabbed a pair of scissors before he forcefully cut her hair against her will.

The officer noted that there appeared to be fresh cut hair near a pair of scissors in the residence and that the woman was reportedly sporting injuries concurrent with the details she gave him regarding the incident.

After taking pictures of the reported wounds so they could be attached to the police report the officer placed the suspect under arrest for the accusations.

The man was booked for suspicion of aggravated domestic battery, in addition to interfering with the reporting of domestic violence.

The suspect was taken to the Macon County Jail where he was incarcerated for the allegations, and he is being held on a $25,000 bond.
