Burnt Biscuits Led to Shooting at Popeyes

The manager of a Popeyes in North Carolina is facing charges after allegedly shooting another manager when they got into a fight over overcooked biscuits last weekend.

On the evening of May 11, two managers at a Popeyes located in a Charlotte shopping center were working a shift together when things got tense between them. The situation reportedly started when they began arguing over biscuits that were overdone and “burnt.” Things escalated, and the fight allegedly turned physical after the men went outside together. According to reports, one man pulled out a gun, and two shots were heard. The other individual was struck by two bullets. Afterwards, the alleged shooter left the location, and the authorities were notified. The wounded man, who was in critical condition, was rushed to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center for treatment.

The police arrived at the Popeyes around 6:00 pm and started collecting information from people who reported they saw what happened. They then began their search for the man who fired the gun, and he was found nearby. When he talked to them about the incident, the man reportedly said he fired the gun into the air after the other individual struck him in the face multiple times.

The man was taken into custody and booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail. He is facing preliminary charges of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon. According to facility records, at the time this was written, he was being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond.

It was reported that the alleged victim had to have surgery after arriving at the hospital, and his injuries were classified as life-threatening.
