Cop Caught Man in Banana Suit Urinating on Side of Building

A man from Massachusetts wearing a banana costume reportedly tried to slip away after he was allegedly caught mid-stream by the police while publicly urinating on the side of a building.

On the evening of October 28, many people in downtown Key West, Florida, were wearing costumes in celebration of Halloween.  There are more than 40 bars in the area, providing them the opportunity to choose just one or visit many of the establishments.

According to reports, it was just after 1:00 a.m., and an officer with the Key West Police Department was patrolling the area when someone came rushing up to him to inform him that someone was publicly relieving themselves on the side of one of the buildings. They described the suspect as a man wearing a banana costume.

The officer went to the location the bystander reported, and he quickly found the person he believed was the culprit. When he approached the man, the officer reported that he was still urinating. He also noted that port-a-potties were across the street from the spot.

When he began interacting with the man, the officer said he “told him to stop.” Instead, the man allegedly tried to run away. The officer was able to stop him in front of a bar, and he held him against the wall. He reportedly continued to struggle and would not cooperate when they tried to handcuff him.

The suspect was escorted on foot by the police to the nearby Old City Hall, where he was processed. He is facing preliminary charges of one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct and one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest. He was released from custody after posting bond.
