A Florida woman is facing charges after allegedly trying to kick an officer between the legs, and spitting on law enforcement at the police station when she was being booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to reports, last Friday, a 29-year-old woman from Margate was driving a Chevrolet Malibu on a busy street in Coral Springs. The driver was reportedly weaving in and out of the lanes, and she hit the center median.
Someone who witnessed the incident called 911. The caller informed the police that the vehicle was still disabled on the road, and it looked like it had been damaged.
Officers dispatched to the area reported, and they encountered a woman in the driver’s seat of the Malibu, which was still idling.
When they first interacted with the woman, the police reported that she smelled like she might have been drinking alcohol. In addition to the scent, she allegedly displayed several signs of intoxication.
The woman reportedly agreed to take roadside sobriety tests, but she was allegedly unable to steady herself on her feet. Officers also reported that she would not cooperate with them when they gave the commands.
After she was in handcuffs and while being walked to the police car, the woman allegedly became physically aggressive and tried to kick the officer escorting her in the crotch. When she was in the car, she reportedly kicked the window and door.
The suspect was taken to the Coral Springs Police Department for processing, where she allegedly spat on some of the officers.
She was transported to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail, and she is expected to face one count of DUI, and two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer
