Driver with No Bumpers Facing Felonies after Traffic Stop

A woman from Bolingbrook, Illinois, is facing multiple charges after the police asserted that she was driving under the influence when she was pulled over for allegedly driving without a bumper on her vehicle.

Just after 3:00 am, officers from the Joliet Police Department reportedly saw a Hyundai Elantra being driven without bumpers, which are legally required. They initiated a traffic stop, and the female driver pulled to the side of the road.

An officer approached the driver’s side window, and when they first spoke with the woman, they alleged that she smelled like she had been drinking alcohol and showed several indicators of intoxication. They also reported that they saw open containers of alcohol inside the Elantra. She was asked to take a roadside sobriety test, and the woman reportedly consented.

It was reported that the woman tried to do the exercises as the officer explained them, but they did not believe she performed up to par.

The police believed there was probable cause to search the woman’s car, and they allegedly discovered unreported amounts of ecstasy and marijuana inside that they asserted belonged to her.

The woman was placed under arrest and booked into the Will County Jail. She is currently facing many criminal charges including felony aggravated DUI, DUI, driving under the influence of drugs, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis by the driver, and driving while her license is suspended. She was also cited for having no bumper on her vehicle, illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver, improper turn signal, and driving an uninsured motor vehicle.

It was reported that she was released without bail the following day.
