On the morning of December 15, a man driving a truck reportedly pulled up to a residence in Chipley, a Northwest Florida city in the panhandle. He exited the vehicle and allegedly started banging on the door. The residents reportedly told him to leave their property several times, but the man allegedly disregarded their requests.
He returned to his truck, but the man remained parked in front of the home. The residents notified the authorities and reported the situation.
Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office went to the address, and when they pulled up, they found the man was still sitting out front in the truck. They approached the vehicle, and it was reported that the man had a blank stare and a parrot on his shoulder. Many weapons were also allegedly in the truck.
The deputies tried to get him to get out of the vehicle, but the man reportedly fought them. The man was tased before he allegedly told them he was high on mushrooms.
Before being taken to the sheriff’s office, the man was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and medical treatment if necessary.
After he was medically cleared, the man was taken into custody and booked into the Washington County Jail. He is facing preliminary charges of two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, and one count each of resisting an officer with violence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and trespassing.
Washington County Animal Control has taken possession of the parrot, who was not harmed during the incident.
