Drunk Teen Driver Accused of 5 Successive Hit-and-Runs

An Indiana teenager may face several charges for allegations of driving under the influence and causing five accidents, in addition to fleeing from the scenes and the police.

18-year-old Edgar DelaCruz Veronico resides in Columbus.

Last Friday afternoon, Veronico allegedly consumed alcohol before driving his Ford Mustang around town.

During his drive, Veronico reportedly hit the back of a woman’s car and forced her off the road. She notified the authorities to report the incident and told them that a driver operating a red Mustang was the culprit.

When searching for the vehicle, the police saw a red Mustang with smoke coming from the front.

The officers tried to perform a traffic stop, but they reported that Veronico was able to escape from them.

After he ditched the first police car, a different officer crossed paths with the alleged suspect’s vehicle. The officer tried to pull Veronico over, but he reportedly refused to comply. He allegedly smashed into another car on the road while trying to flee.

Veronico allegedly left his car on the side of the road and began to flee on foot.

After employing a Taser, the officers apprehended Veronico and asserted that he had been drinking alcohol. They also believed he caused three additional car crashes in addition to the two they responded to.

Veronico was taken to the hospital for a blood test to determine his BAC before he was booked into the county jail.

According to the authorities, they plan to pursue charges against Veronico for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangerment, resisting law enforcement, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, leaving the scene of an accident with injury, reckless driving, and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.
