Farm Owner’s Colossal Party Caused Chaos in Community

A North Carolina man was arrested after several underage guests were found drinking alcohol at a party with thousands of attendees that was held on his 30-acre farm.

On May 2, a party was held at Smokehouse Valley Farm in Cedar Grove with approximately 2,500 guests, and it caused several problems in the community. The attendees parked in the neighborhood near the venue, some in front of residential driveways, and multiple people living in the surrounding area found they were unable to leave their homes. It was reported that 911 received calls regarding the event from more than 75 people, some of whom needed medical help, including one woman who went into labor.

Many law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene, along with first responders, and they reported that they had trouble navigating through the cars and people in the streets. The Sheriff’s Office reported that they found the partygoers had “obstructed driveways, left automobiles in the yards of neighboring property owners, and [that] intoxicated individuals wandered between vehicles snarled in traffic.” When they were located, several individuals were taken to hospitals for treatment.

It was reported that five days after the party, the host was taken into custody. He is currently facing preliminary charges of six counts of aiding and abetting people under the age of 21 that were filed by the Alcohol Law Enforcement agency. Some of the partygoers were also charged with underage consumption of alcohol and DWI.

Smokehouse Valley Farm released a statement explaining that the allegations are “entirely unfounded” as they “do not provide, serve, or sell alcohol under any circumstances.”  They added that any alcohol at the events hosted there “is the sole responsibility of the event organizers and their guests.”
