54-year-old Gregory Sorensen lives in Pasco County, Florida. It is reported that he is an instructor for student drivers.
Just after 11:30 pm on April 1, Sorensen was driving his vehicle on US 19 in New Port Richey.
Deputies in a Florida Highway Patrol vehicle spotted Sorensen on the road, and they reported that he was driving in a way that made them think he was experiencing a medical emergency.
After they performed a traffic stop, the deputies noticed stickers that read “Student Driver” affixed in several places on the automobile and purported that the man was an instructor.
When the deputies spoke with Sorensen, the man allegedly smelled like he had been drinking. The deputies believed his eyes also displayed indicators confirming that he had been consuming alcohol.
Sorensen was asked for his identification, and it was reported that he confused his license with a Chase credit card and handed that to the deputy instead.
It was reported that the deputies looked in the window of Sorensen’s vehicle and saw a 24-pack of Natural Light beer in the back seat. They alleged that it had been opened.
The deputies asked Sorensen to consent to roadside sobriety testing, and the man agreed. When performing the exercises, Sorensen, who was reportedly unsteady on his feet since getting out of the car, performed poorly.
It was reported that when given a breath test, Sorensen’s BAC registered at 0.226 and 0.208.
Sorensen was placed under arrest and booked into the Pasco County Jail on suspicion of DUI.
