A Georgia mother is accused of giving her teenage daughter a golf club during a dispute between several juveniles, leading to an attack that left one 14-year-old girl hospitalized with a skull fracture.
According to the authorities, the confrontation began as a verbal dispute between several juveniles and later turned physical. During the altercation, the 36-year-old woman allegedly went inside her apartment, retrieved a golf club, and handed it to her 16-year-old daughter.
The authorities said the teen struck the alleged victim in the head with the club. The 16-year-old allegedly later gave the club to her 15-year-old sister, who reportedly used it to strike a second girl.
The first alleged victim was taken to a hospital, where she remained in stable condition the following morning. Her mother said the teen suffered a skull fracture, neck swelling and a cut on the top of her head that required staples. Her older sister said the victim began bleeding before hyperventilating and passing out.
Her older sister was identified as the second alleged victim in the incident. Although authorities said she did not report any injuries, she later told a local television station that she had also been struck with the golf club.
According to the alleged victim’s family, the dispute had been building because the 14-year-old had allegedly been bullied online by the woman’s daughters, who attended school with her. The older sister said the family members initially tried to talk through the situation before the fight broke out.
The authorities said they were called to the scene Sunday evening after receiving a report of an assault involving injuries. Investigators later identified the mother and her daughters as suspects in the incident.
The mother was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Her 15-year-old daughter was also charged with aggravated assault, while the 16-year-old was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Both teens were taken to a regional youth detention center, according to the authorities.
