Florida Man Held Store Clerk at Knifepoint for Candy Bar

A robbery suspect reportedly seeking a snack held a convenience store clerk at knifepoint and demanded the man give him a candy bar.

49-year-old Erick Sean Minto lives in Clearwater, Florida.

In the evening on August 17, Minto reportedly went to a Wawa Convenience Store in Largo.

The man allegedly approached a store clerk that was working. Minto reportedly requested that the employee supply him with free food.

It was reported that the clerk would not give anything to Minto for free, but the snack seeker continued to pressure the worker.

Minto was reportedly unhappy that he could not score complimentary edibles.

The man reportedly had a folding pocket knife in his pants. He allegedly retrieved it from his pocket and opened the blade.

After reportedly pointing the weapon at the employee and demanding a Snicker’s candy bar, Minto allegedly told the clerk not to make him “do something stupid.”

The worker reported that he feared he could be physically injured. He decided to hand the requested candy bar to Minto without further hesitation.

When he had the Snicker’s bar, Minto reportedly headed out of the establishment. It was reported that he made a stop at the front counter and left the Snicker’s there.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office was notified about the alleged knifepoint theft.

Deputies located and discussed the allegations with Minto, and they reported that the man had a different story about what occurred at the store.

Minto reportedly said that his encounter with the clerk consisted of his attempt to “trade the knife for a Snickers bar.” He said he did not use the blade to try to scare the alleged victim.

Minto was taken into custody and booked into the Pinellas County Jail. He is expected to face charges for suspicion of felony armed robbery. Minto was incarcerated on a $10,000 bond.
