Early in the evening on July 27, the authorities received a call informing them that there was a fight taking place on the side of the road. Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office went to the location, and when the first one arrived, they said they saw the driver throwing something out his car window. When he approached, the deputy reported that there were two dogs identified as pit bulls, in the car. A baby, who was reported as being nude and covered in excrement was in the vehicle without a car seat.
It was reported that the deputy asked the driver to get out of the car several times, but the man would not cooperate. He allegedly rolled down the window far enough for the dogs to fit their head through and made threatening comments that led the deputy to believe he might allow them to attack him.
When the man finally got out of the vehicle, the deputy took him to the ground, and he began to struggle. He was tazed twice, but the man was able to get up and run away from the deputy. As more law enforcement got to the scene, the man allegedly ordered the dogs to attack them. No one was harmed by the dogs, and the man was detained without further incident.
During the initial investigation, the authorities found $15,000 in cash in the area where the deputy saw the man throw something purported to be trash out of his car window. They also reportedly found fentanyl in the vehicle.
He is currently facing preliminary charges of battery on an officer, resisting arrest, neglecting a child without bodily harm, trafficking in fentanyl (four grams or more), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
