A well-known South Florida pediatrician was arrested for allegations of several sexual offenses toward children.
49-year-old Michael Mizrachy is a pediatrician that reportedly has stellar reviews from many parents who have taken their children to him.
Last June, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office was told that Mizrachy might be obtaining and collecting pornographic images of children.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Unit opened an investigation into the claims.
According to the authorities, they located his many online accounts and discovered that he had pictures of youngsters purported to be between the ages of 10 and 15. The youngsters, who were reportedly assessed to be friends of Mizrachy’s daughter, were wearing underclothes and bathing suits in the photos. It was also reported that one pornographic video containing a child was found.
The police additionally alleged that Mizrachy had been talking to a 15-year-old with one of the online accounts and reportedly traded images containing sexual content.
Mizrachy was taken into custody and booked into the Broward County Jail. He is expected to be charged with two counts of possession of child sexual performance and one count of child pornography possession.
A judge ordered that Mizrachy is not allowed to be in the presence of children, but he may visit with his child if the mother is present.
West Broward Pediatrics in Plantation, where Mizrachy was employed until last year when he was fired, made a statement about the allegations. They confirmed that they have not found anything that would give them a reason to believe he committed crimes in their offices.
While Mizrachy’s medical license is still reported as being active, one of his insurance providers has yanked their coverage of the doctor as a result of the case against him.
