Former LSU Player Arrested After Knife Incident on Bus

A Florida man was arrested after authorities said he allegedly threatened passengers aboard a city bus with a bladed multi-tool during a confrontation.

Police responded Monday after receiving reports that a passenger was threatening people with a weapon on a Miami-Dade Transit bus. When officers arrived, they located the suspect near the bus and recovered what was described as a silver multi-tool with a blade.

According to the investigation, witnesses said the man began yelling shortly after boarding the bus, leading to a verbal confrontation with another passenger. Police said the passenger initially tried to calm the situation, but the exchange became more heated as the argument continued.

Authorities alleged the suspect then opened the blade on the multi-tool, pointed it toward the other passenger, and asked whether he wanted to die while moving toward him. The bus driver also told officers she saw the suspect wave the bladed tool at other passengers during the incident.

Police said surveillance video from the transit bus captured the confrontation, and officers interviewed multiple witnesses before taking the suspect into custody. Additional reports indicated the man was experiencing homelessness at the time of his arrest. He was later charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Court records showed the man received a $5,000 bond on the assault charge. However, he remained in custody because of an unrelated outstanding domestic violence warrant that required a separate court appearance before he could be released.

The suspect previously played wide receiver for Louisiana State University and was a member of the school’s 2007 national championship team. He was later selected by the San Diego Chargers in the 2009 NFL Draft, but his professional football career never developed after the team released him following a serious car accident.
