Lil Nas X Pleaded Not Guilty to Felony Charges

Rap artist Lil Nas X was arrested in Studio City after allegedly charging at police officers when he was found walking around wearing only underwear and cowboy boots.

According to reports, on the morning of August 21, individuals on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City reportedly spotted a man later identified as the performing artist Lil Nas X walking down the middle of the street in cowboy boots and underpants. Several people notified the authorities, and officers from the Los Angeles Police Department went to investigate the situation. As soon as they arrived, the officers reported that the man ran towards them and allegedly struck one of them. They quickly detained him without further incident.

After being checked at the hospital for a potential overdose, he was taken into custody on suspicion of three felony counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one felony count of resisting an executive officer. He was booked into the Valley Jail in Van Nuys and held in lieu of a $75,000 bond. After spending the weekend in jail, the rapper, who has no prior criminal record, pleaded not guilty to the allegations at his arraignment. The judge ordered that he will be required to attend four Narcotics Anonymous meetings per week, but at the time this was written, the results of his drug screening were not yet available. If convicted, each charge carries a penalty of three years behind bars, as well as a $10,000 fine.

One of his attorneys stated that having international fame at such a young age can cause immense pressure, in addition to reminding people not to “judge somebody by the worst moment in their life.”
