Man Threatened Couple with Knife and Gun in Road Rage Incident

An allegedly tense encounter in a Miami neighborhood led to the arrest of a Florida man after the authorities said he threatened a couple with both a knife and a gun during a road-rage outburst.

The incident reportedly occurred on November 6, when a woman was slowly backing into her driveway along a residential street. Police reports noted that a passing driver became impatient as he approached and blasted his horn before swinging around her vehicle. He then reportedly stopped in the roadway, got out, and shouted angrily as she was still trying to park. Investigators later wrote that he confronted her directly and accused her of intentionally obstructing his path.

What began as shouting allegedly escalated quickly. According to officers, the driver behaved in a threatening manner and moved toward the woman while holding a pocketknife. She called out for her husband, who came outside and stepped between them. A brief scuffle reportedly followed, during which the driver still had the knife out and allegedly continued making threats toward both of them.

After being pushed by the husband, the man returned to his vehicle, but the situation reportedly intensified again as he drove off. Police say he pointed a firearm at the couple from inside his car, hurled a racial insult, and again implied that their lives were in danger before he sped away.

The investigation continued, and on December 5, officers had located the suspect at his Miami home. When he got into his vehicle, police initiated a traffic stop and took him into custody without further incident. Authorities say he had a pocketknife in his clothing and a gun inside the car at the time of the arrest.

After being advised of his rights, the man allegedly acknowledged getting into the confrontation and threatening the couple with the weapons. He booked into the Miami-Dade County Metrowest Detention Center on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. According to reports, at the time this was written, he was being held in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
