Manager used Former Employees’ Timecards to Steal $260k

A Tennessee man is facing over three dozen theft charges after being accused of using the identities of others to steal over $260,000 from his job.

37-year-old Lashawn Green worked as a manager at the People Ready temp agency in Covington Pike from December 2020 until February 2022.

Employees of People Ready are issued a debit card for their pay to be direct deposited, and they use a digital app as a timecard to track their hours.

TrueBlue is the parent company of People Ready. It was reported that former People Ready employees called TrueBlue to let them know that they received W-2s for 2021, but they said they did not work for the company during that calendar year.

When the situation was investigated, it was reportedly discovered that between the end of September 2021 to the middle of February 2022 someone clocked 33 workers in and out even though they were no longer employed with People Ready.

The company reported that the suspect used several pay cards and stole $266,183.

As a manager, Green was able to log the workers in and out of job assignments manually.

After an internal investigation, it was asserted that he was the one who performed the manual timecard actions.

When they reviewed the cash withdrawal transactions, the authorities reported that they took place at a Regions ATM in Raleigh. They collected videos and reported that the person matched Green’s identity.

Green was taken into custody and booked into the Shelby County Jail. He is facing charges for theft of property greater than $250,000, and 36 counts of identity theft. He is being held in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
