Sex Offender Arrested for Second Attempt to Buy a Child

A registered sex offender on probation for previously trying to purchase a child has been arrested for allegedly attempting to buy another youngster.

85-year-old Hellmuth Kolb lives northeast of Orlando in Port Orange, Florida. In 2018, he was convicted for offering to buy a child for $200,000. He is still on probation, and he is required to register as a sex offender as well as stay away from children.

On August 16, Kolb reportedly went into a local Winn-Dixie grocery store.

A mother and her 8-year-old daughter were also at the market, and the woman said Kolb began to interact with her.

It was reported that Kolb openly discussed with her the fact that though he wanted them, he never had any children of his own. He also allegedly made comments about her child’s dancing and added that he thought she was beautiful.

When the woman and her daughter left the store, they were walking through the parking lot and Kolb reportedly ran toward them.

The man allegedly proposed that he would give the mother $100,000 if she would let him have the child.

The girl’s parents called and reported the situation to the authorities, and the Port Orange Police Department opened an investigation.

The authorities reported that they discovered Kolb was on probation for a similar crime.

On August 25, Kolb was placed under arrest by the Port Orange Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit. He was booked into the Volusia County Jail. Kolb is expected to face charges of battery and false imprisonment, and he is being held without bail.

It was reported that the youngster was shaken up by the event, but she did not suffer any harm.
