Officer Arrested After Locking Workers Inside DFCS Office

A Georgia correctional officer is facing serious felony charges after authorities say he trapped state employees inside a government office during a confrontation over child support payments.

The incident happened on December 18 at the Department of Family and Child Services office in Warner Robins. According to law enforcement, the officer arrived at the building upset about his child support obligations and quickly became aggressive once inside.

Investigators say the situation escalated almost immediately. After entering the office, the man allegedly locked the front door and prevented four employees from leaving. With the exits blocked, he reportedly began yelling at staff members and using profanity while he continued to complain about his payments. Police say he also tried to enter a restricted, employee-only area of the building.

Building security eventually intervened and escorted the man out of the office. By the time the local police arrived, the suspect had already left the scene. Officers spoke with the employees who had been inside during the incident.

Later that day, the suspect went to the police station voluntarily and agreed to be interviewed. During questioning, he reportedly acknowledged locking the door but claimed that he later unlocked it. He also allegedly admitted to cursing at the employees and attempting to enter the restricted area, but refused to provide information about his supervisor within the Georgia Department of Corrections. Additionally, he reportedly argued with the authorities about the potential charges.

The man was taken into custody and booked into the Houston County Jail. He is facing multiple charges, including four counts of false imprisonment and four counts of terroristic threats and acts. He was released from the facility after posting bond. According to reports, he was fired from his job the day after his arrest.
