An Oregon man already being held in the Baker County Jail on an unrelated case has now been indicted on a separate set of felony drug and weapons charges, according to court records.
A Baker County grand jury returned the indictment on July 30, accusing the 41-year-old defendant of unlawful delivery of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Prosecutors also filed two misdemeanor counts alleging he was a felon in possession of restricted weapons.
According to the indictment, the defendant possessed at least 10 grams of methamphetamine. Prosecutors further alleged the case qualified as a commercial drug offense because he reportedly had more than $300 in cash, materials used to package drugs for sale, a firearm, and a restricted knife when he was arrested.
The latest indictment stemmed from a different investigation than the one that originally landed him in jail. Authorities arrested him on June 23 after investigating an incident that allegedly occurred 10 days earlier.
According to the authorities, an officer recognized a vehicle the defendant was known to drive while patrolling a residential area. After their emergency lights were activated, the driver allegedly accelerated and ignored multiple stop signs before the pursuing officer ended the chase because of public safety concerns.
The authorities located and arrested the defendant several days later. This case included charges of attempting to elude a police officer, reckless driving, and a probation violation.
According to reports, court records also showed the defendant had prior felony convictions, including a 2025 conviction for possession of a stolen vehicle and a 2022 conviction for attempting to elude a police officer and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
