Philadelphia Man Attacked by Group of Teens

A Pennsylvania man was hospitalized after he was allegedly followed, beaten, and robbed by a group of juveniles while walking home from work late Friday night, according to the authorities.

The alleged victim, a 46-year-old man, reportedly suffered a broken nose and needed three staples in his head after the attack in South Philadelphia. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment after nearby residents apparently heard the disturbance and caused the suspects to flee the area.

According to the authorities, the man had just finished a long day working two jobs and was heading home on foot shortly before 11 p.m. He reportedly had used the same route for about a decade without problems. Investigators said four juvenile males began following him as he walked through the neighborhood.

Video footage obtained by a local television station allegedly showed the group approaching the man from different directions moments before the assault began. The alleged victim said the suspects did not speak before attacking him. He reportedly believed he was struck in the back of the head with an unknown object, causing him to briefly lose consciousness.

When the man came to, he allegedly realized the group was still assaulting him while demanding money. He reportedly handed over his wallet, which contained several hundred dollars in cash. The authorities said the suspects fled with the wallet and around $200 after residents nearby started making noise.

Investigators said some of the juveniles were seen running north after the robbery while another fled in the opposite direction.

The authorities described the attack as a violent robbery in which the suspects allegedly beat the alleged victim until he lost consciousness before stealing his money and wallet.

If the suspects are caught, they could face multiple charges. The Philadelphia Police Department is urging anyone with information about the attack to contact the South Detective Division.
