According to the authorities, on June 5, someone gave information to deputies from the Broome County Sheriff’s Office concerning the principal of Johnson City Middle School and a teenage girl. They were told that the man was trying to have a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old, who used to be a student at the school, but now attends Johnson City High School.
The police began to investigate the 55-year-old principal. The sheriff’s office put out a press release stating their assertion that the man was the perpetrator. They also reported that he made several attempts to meet with the teenager face-to-face.
It was reported that someone was talking to the girl on social media for approximately a week on Snapchat. The person allegedly initially told her they were also a teenager, but later reportedly revealed their real identity.
On July 7, the man, who worked for the school district for two decades, reportedly said he would meet and spend time with the girl at a “remote location.” It was assumed that he planned to have sexual relations with her.
The police went to the site, and when the man showed up, they reported that he had a package of condoms on him. He was also carrying chicken nuggets and a Grimace shake from McDonald’s.
The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Broome County Correctional Facility. He is currently facing one count of felony luring a child, and one count of misdemeanor third-degree attempted rape. He is being held without bail.
