A married special education teacher at a high school in northeastern Illinois was accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy in a classroom last December.
On March 15, the mother of a teenage boy who attends Downers Grove South High School was setting up her teenage son’s new cell phone when she spotted disturbing messages containing discussions about sex. The other party, believed to be the teen’s soccer coach and tutor, allegedly messaged the boy about how much she liked their physical encounter. According to reports, the alleged connection between the two started in a classroom on campus before a tutoring session. The boy reported that he later realized it was wrong and ended things with her. His mother reported the situation to the police, and an investigation was opened.
On March 16, the woman and her husband were pulled over by Downers Grove police while driving in Chicago, and she was told to get out of the vehicle. The woman, who was visibly upset and crying, was taken into custody. She is expected to face charges of two felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and one felony count of criminal sexual assault against a minor. She was released with the condition that she is not allowed to enter the high school or have contact with anyone age 18 or younger.
When speaking to the authorities about the allegations, the woman told them she was talking about her husband in the text messages that mentioned sex. She said she was “just a good person who cared too much about [the victim],” and denied having sexual relations with him. The police reported that the woman’s phone was searched, and they discovered a memoir in a “notes” app that they believed proved she engaged in sex with the alleged victim.
