An attorney in Mississippi was arrested last week for allegedly trying to smuggle multiple items considered to be contraband into a county detention center.

On August 8, a lawyer from Terry, Mississippi went to the Hinds County Detention Center to visit some of the inmates he reportedly represents. He was carrying a silver briefcase when he entered, and the authorities became suspicious of what they believed was taking place during the meetings. They decided to inspect the contents of the case when they thought they saw him hand an envelope and cell phone to a detainee.

When it was searched, the authorities said the briefcase had many items that were illegal to bring into a detention center, some of which allegedly included a couple of cell phones, a digital scale, four sealed packs of cigarettes, four vacuum-sealed packs of what was believed to be marijuana, two cellphone charger blocks, two cell phone chargers, and multiple cigar wraps. They believed he was inconspicuously handing off the items to the people assumed to be his clients.
