A brother and sister in South Carolina spent the night in jail after name-calling, punching, gunfire, a broomstick, and a can of bug spray were allegedly used during a fight about the proper way to cook chicken.

On the evening of July 28, a 27-year-old man was cooking dinner at his family home in Georgetown. His 25-year-old sister was also there, and she began complaining about the way he was seasoning the chicken. He explained that he knew what he was doing and let her know their grandmother was going to add the seasonings.

According to reports, the woman was unsatisfied with the response, and she told her brother he was a “dumb dog.” He allegedly responded by holding her down on the kitchen table with his body while punching her in the face multiple times. A person whose identity was not disclosed was in the house, and when they heard the ruckus, they reportedly grabbed a loaded firearm and shot a bullet through the ceiling. The woman then reportedly began chasing her brother with a knife. He believed his life was in danger, so he ran to his grandmother’s door. She exited the room and began striking her granddaughter with a broom handle.
