A Texas man could spend 20 years in prison if he is convicted of the charges filed against him after the police allegedly found a firearm, drugs, and paraphernalia in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

According to reports, a 38-year-old man suspected of distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl was recently driving his Ford F-250 on the Interstate. His vehicle was spotted by officers from the Midland Police Department, who reported that they saw him speeding, swerving between traffic lanes, and driving on the shoulder of the road. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver pulled over without incident. When officers looked in the vehicle, they noted that a woman was in the passenger seat. They saw a jar on the driver’s side, and they believed it contained narcotics. When the contents were inspected, the authorities reported that it was an ounce of fentanyl powder, an ounce of methamphetamine, and several prescription pills for erectile dysfunction. During a search of the truck, a loaded pistol was allegedly found. The man was taken into custody, and he exercised his right to remain silent. The passenger reportedly told the police there were additional firearms and narcotics at the suspect’s residence.

The man was booked into the Midland County Detention Center. He was initially facing a first-degree felony charge of manufacture and/or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1, weighing more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams.
