A Florida woman with her preteen daughter in the car is facing charges after she reportedly crashed into a school bus while allegedly driving under the influence.

On the afternoon of September 5, a 38-year-old woman from Coconut Creek was driving in Boynton Beach with her 11-year-old daughter in the car. As she made a left turn, she reportedly slammed into a Palm Beach County school bus. The driver was the only person on board, and it was reported that the vehicles were damaged, but no one was injured. Several motorists around the scene allegedly saw the accident as it occurred, and the authorities were notified.

Officers from the Boynton Beach Police Department responded to the scene to investigate and spoke with individuals who identified themselves as witnesses. They each reported that they noticed the woman’s car was swerving between the lanes and then saw her crash into the bus after making a sharp left turn. When the police talked to the alleged victim, they reported that she was unable to stand up straight. They believed it was an indication that she was intoxicated, despite having just been in an accident.

On Friday, the parents of two young boys who authorities allege tried to trade their children for money, or possibly drugs, have entered a plea of no contest to charges of felony attempted child abandonment.

Lancaster residents Vincent Calogero and Sarah Nilson, the parents of two toddlers, were reportedly under the influence of a controlled substance when they began offering the children to strangers. The sheriff’s department speculated that they were trying to give the boys away in order to obtain cash or narcotics.

Deputies dispatched to the family’s home to investigate reported child abuse and arrested 38-year-old Calogero and 32-year-old Nilson.
