Texas Siblings Arrested After Fight Over Grapes

A Texas brother and sister were accused of attacking each other during an argument over grapes, with a younger sibling also allegedly becoming involved in the fight.

According to the charging affidavit, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a Waco apartment around 7 p.m. on September 24. The siblings were outside with their mother when officers arrived. The brother waited outside while police spoke with his sister.

The woman told investigators the dispute started after she confronted her brother about eating grapes she had recently bought. She said he became angry and kept yelling at her as she walked into another room and locked the door.

The brother allegedly began hitting the door until he made a hole in it. She warned him that she would use pepper spray if he entered, then opened the door and sprayed him. He reportedly blocked the spray with his jacket.

The woman said her brother then punched her in the side of the head and put his arm around her head. During the confrontation, he allegedly told her he was going to kill her. She said she got free by punching him.

The brother gave investigators a different account of what happened. He agreed that the argument began over the grapes but said his sister started punching him in the face. He said he knew he would go to jail and did not remember everything because he blacked out from anger.

A younger sibling was also reportedly involved. Police said the younger sibling stepped between the pair to stop the fight and was slapped in the face by the woman. She initially denied doing so but later admitted that she had struck the younger sibling.

The woman was accused of injury to a child, while her brother was accused of assault causing bodily injury to a family member. Both were booked into the McLennan County Jail and later posted bond.
