The father told deputies that he saw his son being attacked after being knocked to the ground. According to the arrest affidavit, one suspect pushed the son against a vehicle while holding him by the neck before throwing him down and stomping on his stomach.
The father was also allegedly attacked after he told a group of people to move out of the roadway. One suspect allegedly responded with gang-related comments before pulling out brass knuckles and striking the father in the head.
The father said he fell to the ground, where several people allegedly continued attacking him. While he was down, he heard his son yelling and saw the suspects physically harming him.
Deputies arrived at the fairgrounds in Blackfoot around 11:15 p.m. after the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a fight in progress. According to authorities, deputies found alleged victims bleeding from their injuries.
The father told deputies that he and his family had been leaving the fair when they encountered people standing in the roadway and disrupting traffic. Other drivers had been honking at the group before he told them to get out of the road.
The alleged victims later identified two suspects. Deputies located them and took them into custody. Investigators recovered brass knuckles with blood on them after deputies reportedly saw one suspect trying to discard them.
The suspects may face aggravated battery charges with deadly-weapon enhancements, obstructing and delaying an officer, and destruction of evidence. Additional individuals who may have been involved had not been located.
