29-year-old Corey Sanderson lives in a home with his family in Madison, Wisconsin.
Early in the morning on February 5, Sanderson created a Facebook post alerting people that a snowblower was stolen from his garage. He asked for help in keeping an eye out for the swiped machine and said that the police were given a report about the incident.
A few days after the initial incident, Sanderson spotted two intruders in his garage and watched them walk off with a snowblower and get into a vehicle.
The man reportedly chased them in his truck and tried to get their license plate number, but his view was restricted. It was also reported that their vehicle did not have the lights turned on.
Sanderson, who reported that his family was still feeling unsafe in their home after the first burglary, noticed the vehicle he was chasing made a turn around a corner. The man, who was reported as driving 50 MPH at the time, allegedly T-boned the car that the thieves were in.
Both the driver and passenger were reported as being severely hurt, but they are each expected to recover from their injuries. The driver was diagnosed with fractures to his pelvis and some of his ribs.
Sanderson was taken into custody. He is tentatively facing a felony charge of second-degree reckless endangerment for the alleged act of vigilantism. He was later released on bond.
If Sanderson is convicted as charged, he could face a jail sentence of up to ten years.
The authorities reported that the victims of the crash may face charges since a snowblower was discovered in their trunk.
