When a Florida woman was arrested for reportedly driving under the influence of alcohol, she allegedly told the authorities she had been drinking in Margaritaville.
42-year-old Brooke Opal Finkley lives in Lake Panasoffkee, Florida.
On May 30, Finkley was reportedly a patron at the Margarita Republic at Spanish Springs Town Square.
Just before 3:00 am, Finkley was reportedly driving her vehicle on U.S. Highway 27.
When she reached an area near a gas station, an officer who reported that one of her headlights was burned out performed a traffic stop.
After identifying the driver as Finkley, the officer claimed the woman smelled strongly of alcohol. It was additionally reported that she showed several physical indicators leading the officer to believe that she had been drinking.
When talking to Finkley, the officer reported that her words were slurred.
After inquiring about where the woman was coming from, Finkley reportedly informed the officer that she had been at “Margaritaville,” the name of the song made popular by singer and songwriter Jimmy Buffet.
The officer purported that Finkley had been at the Margarita Republic. After she reportedly confirmed her whereabouts, she disclosed that she had consumed two alcoholic beverages containing vodka while at the establishment.
Finkley was given a roadside sobriety test, and the officer reported that she did not perform the activities satisfactorily. A breath test was administered to try to assess Finkley’s BAC. She reportedly produced results of .218 and .214, which is nearly triple the legal limit of .08.
Finkley was taken into custody, and she is expected to face charges for suspicion of DUI. She was later released from the Lake County Jail on a $1,000 bond.
