Woman Arrested After Attacking Elderly Women at Walmart

A woman from Alabama was arrested in Florida after allegedly attacking two elderly women in a retail store parking lot and later resisting the authorities.

The incident occurred on the evening of March 23 at a Walmart Supercenter in Panama City Beach. According to the authorities, officers were dispatched to the scene shortly before 8 p.m. after they received reports of a disturbance in the parking lot.

Investigators alleged that, before their arrival, the woman had approached a vehicle traveling through the lot around 7:40 p.m. The vehicle was occupied by two older women, one driving and the other in the passenger seat. Without any known provocation, the suspect allegedly began striking the vehicle when it neared her.

The authorities said both occupants exited the vehicle during the encounter. One of the women, approximately 69 years old, was allegedly grabbed by the arm, causing her bracelet to break, and was also pulled by her necklace. The second woman, about 65 years old, was reportedly grabbed by the throat and sustained visible redness. She was also allegedly scratched near the eye and struck in the face with a closed fist.

When officers made contact with the suspect a short time later, they observed signs of impairment, including slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol. The woman allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol and cannabis.

The authorities said she became uncooperative when they told her she would be taken into custody. She allegedly resisted being restrained, pulled away multiple times, and later slipped out of flex cuffs after being placed in a patrol vehicle.

Following the incident, she was charged with two counts of battery on a person over 65, as well as disorderly conduct and resisting an officer without violence. She was booked into the local jail on a $21,000 bond.
