When a man went to visit a woman he met online, she allegedly tried to force him to give her money at gunpoint before shooting at him as he ran away after escaping from the residence.
On April 24, a man and woman who met on Facebook and formed a connection decided to meet and spend time together in person. The 28-year-old woman reportedly invited the man to her home.
When he arrived and went inside, the woman, whose two children were home, allegedly acted flirtatiously. The man reportedly responded to her alleged seductiveness, and she allegedly produced a 9mm and insisted he give her cash. She also reportedly tried to stop him from leaving the house. When he got outside and began to drive off, the woman allegedly fired the gun at his vehicle.
The authorities were notified, and law enforcement from the Hardee County Sheriff’s Office went to the woman’s house. They reported that it was so unkempt that they had a hard time breathing, and there were roaches everywhere. They also reported that the children’s needs were not being met. During their investigation, they found two shells and a 9mm round, and they believed they belonged to the woman.
She was taken into custody and booked at the Hardee County Sheriff’s Office. She is facing preliminary charges of attempted second-degree murder, shooting into a building/vehicle/etc., possession and/or discharge of a firearm during a felony, false imprisonment, child neglect without great bodily harm, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to reports, she pleaded not guilty to the accusations two days after her arrest.
