A Florida man is facing criminal charges after allegedly hitting his girlfriend with a cheeseburger so hard that it caused her physical injuries.
It is reported that 41-year-old James Hunt has a 53-year-old girlfriend and the pair lives together, but they are currently without permanent housing.
On the evening of August 13, Hunt and his girlfriend reportedly visited a Burger King in Clearwater.
It was reported that Hunt paid for his girlfriend’s cheeseburger, but the woman did not eat the sandwich and he allegedly became irate.
The woman walked out of the restaurant, and Hunt reportedly followed her outside with the cheeseburger in his hand. The man allegedly propelled the cheeseburger at his girlfriend so hard that the woman got knocked onto the ground.
The alleged victim was reportedly injured when she hit her face on the pavement because of the fall.
The authorities were notified, and officers from the Clearwater Police Department went to Burger King to investigate the situation.
According to the affidavit, a restaurant worker told the authorities that they saw part of the incident. They said that while the woman was on the ground, Hunt “proceeded to strike the victim with a closed fist to the back of her head.”
The police looked over the woman and reported that she had the remnants of the cheeseburger in her hair. They also noted that blood was on her shirt and shorts.
Hunt was booked into the Pinellas County Jail, and he may face charges of felony domestic battery, He is being held in lieu of a $15,000 bond, and he is disallowed from having any contact with the alleged victim if he is released.
