Wild Police Chase Leaves Driver Shot and Charged with Assault

Police claim that a 36-year old man took them on a chase from Redondo Beach to San Pedro, and that he then tried to run over a police officer.

Dallaire, a resident of Redondo Beach, made his first appearance in Torrance court and pled not guilty at his arraignment.

According to police, Dallaire drove away from police in Redondo Beach on Saturday when they tried to pull him over for a traffic violation. Officers had chased him to Gaffey St. and Summerland Ave. in San Pedro where he crashed his car. A Redondo Beach police officer tried to approach Dallaire, but Dallaire allegedly put the car in reverse, trying to hit the officer with his car. That prompted the officer to shoot, police said.

Although Dallaire was hit with a bullet from the gunshot he was able to drive away continuing the chase to 17th Street and Leland St. in San Pedro., where his car became disabled.

No officers were hurt.

Prosecutors charged Dallaire with one felony count each of assault upon a police officer, assault with a deadly weapon (a car), fleeing a pursuing police officer’s car while driving recklessly, driving or taking a vehicle without consent and hit and run driving resulting in an injury to another person. Dallaire’s next hearing is scheduled Dec 29.

Records show that Dallaire has been before many judges in LA County courts following arrests. Since 1998, Dallaire has had convictions for battery, driving without a license or insurance, receiving stolen property, grand theft, and methamphetamine possession. He has burglary convictions in 1999, 2008 and 2010. Dallaire has been sentenced to multiple years probation, county jail stays, and prison terms.
