A couple from Memphis who reportedly had a problem with the spiciness of the McDonald’s chicken sandwich allegedly responded by firing a gun at the restaurant, causing four people to get shot.
22-year-old Tavarus McKinney resides in Memphis, Tennessee, and he has several convictions on his record for various violent offenses.
On June 6, McKinney and Keonna Halliburton, 20, reportedly took a trip to a local McDonald’s. Halliburton ordered a spicy chicken sandwich.
When the pair received their food and began to eat, the woman reportedly felt the food was too spicy for her liking.
They reportedly approached an employee to voice their displeasure, and the couple was dissatisfied with the response to their complaint.
The pair walked out of the store and reportedly got into a truck with McKinney in the driver’s seat and Halliburton riding as a passenger.
Moments later, a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s truck allegedly returned to the address, but they did not drive onto the property.
Gunshots purported to have come from McKinney and Halliburton’s vehicle sent many bullets through the parking lot, and four people were struck.
Approximately a week after the incident, the authorities asked the alleged victims to see if they could identify the perpetrators in a line-up.
Over the next two days, all of the people hit by bullets went to the station and issued official statements before taking part in the line-up identification.
All of the alleged victims reportedly identified McKinney and Halliburton.
The pair was arrested, and they are each expected to face four counts of attempted murder and four counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Halliburton is being held on a $500,000 bond.
McKinney’s bond was set at $1 million.
