Actor Jonathan Majors is facing several charges after being accused of assaulting and harassing a woman in New York City.
Jonathan Majors is a 33-year-old actor. He is known for his roles in the 2019 film “The Last Black Man in San Francisco,” and the HBO series “Lovecraft Country,” the latter of which resulted in a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. In addition to other film and television work, Majors’ voice was used in two U.S. Army commercials.
On March 27, Majors and a 30-year-old woman were together in a vehicle when they reportedly got into a domestic dispute.
According to reports, the woman alleged that Majors physically attacked her. She reportedly said he hit her with an open hand and caused her head behind her ear to bleed. The woman added that Majors grabbed her by the neck and left bruises.
The authorities were notified, and when they went to the scene, they confirmed that the alleged victim had injuries. She was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Majors was arrested, and he is facing charges of three counts of assault in the third degree, aggravated harassment in the second degree, three counts of attempted assault in the third degree, and harassment in the second degree. He was released on his own recognizance.
His defense attorney has stated that his client is completely innocent of the allegations and that they have both video and eyewitness accounts to back up their claim. It was also stated that the alleged victim supplied “two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations.”
The U.S. Army has stopped airing the two commercials with Majors’ voice due to the allegations.
