A Providence man was arrested after allegedly robbing a local strip club at gunpoint and taking $22,000 in $1 bills.
In the middle of the afternoon on July 18, a manager of The Cadillac Lounge adult entertainment club was counting money in his office before the establishment opened for the day.
According to reports, a man wearing a mask entered the club and walked into the manager’s office. The man reportedly pulled out a gun and held it up to the manager’s head, ordering him not to look at him.
The intruder informed the manager that he was there to rob the establishment.
Although a safe was open nearby, he took the money the manager was counting, which was reported to be $3,500.
It was reported that the armed robber did not take the cash from the open safe but knew there was a second safe in the office, and he told the manager to open it so he could take the money from inside.
The manager complied with his demands, and after opening the safe, the intruder began filling a big bag with the currency. The suspect reportedly cleaned out the safe, which held $22,000. Since the strip club keeps an abundance of $1 bills for the dancer’s tips, the suspect’s alleged bounty was entirely comprised of the small monetary denomination.
The authorities were notified after the robber left the location. The manager informed them that he believed the person was familiar with the store since he knew about the second safe.
It was reported that the suspect left the stolen cash on nearby railroad tracks, and the police found it very quickly. They asserted that he planned to come back for it.
After investigating the incident, the authorities believed 30-year-old Jontay Goode was the robbery suspect.
Goode was placed under arrest and incarcerated on suspicion of armed robbery.
