A Florida man being arrested on a warrant was reportedly found with methamphetamine inside an Advil container in his underwear and denied knowing how it ended up there.
Early in the evening on November 27, deputies with the Indian River Sheriff’s Department served a 46-year-old man with an arrest warrant for allegedly failing to show up for court on a DUI charge.
The man was taken into custody and booked into the Indian River County Jail. While he was changing into his jail clothing, the authorities reportedly discovered a round container with an Advil label on it in his underwear underneath his genitalia. When they looked inside, they reportedly found there was a small bag holding a substance they alleged was methamphetamine.
According to the arrest affidavit, the contents of the Advil container were never shown to the suspect before he was accused of carrying an illegal substance. The authorities reported that they tested the substance, and they alleged that it immediately showed a positive result for methamphetamine.
The man was read his Miranda rights, and he decided to answer some of the questions he was asked by the authorities without an attorney present. He reportedly said he did not know how the Advil container ended up where they found it. Regarding the substance allegedly found inside, he said he believed it was Advil, and had no idea it was an illegal drug. He purported the container was put in his underwear while he was sleeping.
He is currently being held without bail, and the suspect is facing preliminary charges of felony failure to appear in court on a DUI charge, in addition to one felony count each of possession of a controlled substance and attempting to smuggle contraband into a county detention facility.
