After a bakery in Milwaukee was burglarized, they helped to locate the suspect by printing an image of the man’s face on cookies they sold to their customers.
On April 20, Canfora-Lakeside Bakery notified the authorities to report that they had been burglarized.
The police learned that the cash drawer, which contained approximately $200, had been swiped from the store. They also collected and reviewed surveillance video from the inside and outside of the establishment.
When they reviewed the footage, the authorities and bakery owner took note that the suspect’s face was depicted clearly.
The police opened an investigation, and the bakery owner aided by using their talent and business to help find the person responsible.
The bakery owner took the image from the surveillance footage and used it to create edible prints. They baked sugar cookies, and adorned them with the picture and a candy “frame.” The cookies were offered to customers of the establishment for purchase, and they quickly gained widespread notoriety.
Knowledge of the uniquely decorated treats reached the UK, where they reportedly dubbed the suspect “the biscuit bandit.”
On April 26, an officer was online when they saw a picture of 45-year-old Dominic Kolp and asserted that he was the person responsible for the theft at the bakery.
The authorities set out to locate Kolp. On May 9, they found him at a local hotel where he was staying in a room on the second floor.
When the police went to the hotel to detain the man, Kolp reportedly leaped off the balcony and tried to flee.
Kolp was quickly caught, and he was arrested without further incident.
He is facing charges for suspicion of burglary of a building, and bail jumping.
When speaking to the authorities about the allegations, Kolp reportedly said he never went to the bakery.
