When a man at a bar on Florida’s West Coast reportedly got upset about the karaoke machine, he allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at one of the patrons.
According to their website, Overtime Sports Bar, which is located in a strip mall in Clearwater, offers karaoke to their patrons on Friday and Saturday nights. On March 15, the equipment used for the activity was on the fritz, causing the cancellation of that evening’s performances from potential crooners. One of the customers, later identified as a 34-year-old local, reportedly had a violent reaction to the situation which landed him behind bars.
It was reported that the man got frustrated when he learned the karaoke machine was broken, and shortly after, he walked out the door. While outside, he interacted with two other men who were at the bar, and one of them unsuccessfully tried to help lighten his mood. The man reportedly showed irritation at the unsolicited attention and allegedly responded by pointing a handgun at him. He reportedly pulled the slide back with his hand and caused it to snap forward before walking away.
The authorities were notified, and officers from the Clearwater Police Department went to the bar to investigate. They took the man into custody and he was booked into the Pinellas County Jail. He is facing a preliminary charge of felony aggravated assault, in addition to a felony charge for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Three days after his arrest, the man was released after posting a $40,000 surety bond. He was also ordered to stay away from the alleged victim, and the establishment where the incident occurred.
