A Florida man reportedly ran over severed legs in the road at a crime scene and forced the police to chase him for several minutes before he was apprehended.
It was reported that around 3:30 am on April 17, a 49-year-old woman that was walking down the side of the road in Dade City was the victim of a hit-and-run. Her body was torn in half in the accident.
Law enforcement went to the site to investigate. They found the woman’s legs in the street, and her torso was on the shoulder of the road lying in the grass.
23-year-old Andrew Thomas Krummen was driving a pickup truck near the accident site with a 33-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman riding as passengers.
Krummen reportedly ignored the signals from law enforcement as they tried to get him to stop before he entered the scene. As he proceeded down the road, Thomas allegedly almost plowed into two of the officers, in addition to running over the severed legs of the woman that was killed.
Krummen reportedly continued to drive, and officers chased after him in police vehicles.
It was reported that the passengers were trying to signal the police from inside the truck and they appeared to want to escape.
The chase lasted for approximately 10 minutes.
One of the pursuing officers was recording the incident with his body-worn cam, and it showed Krummen’s truck spinning to a stop after another officer implemented a tactical maneuver.
Krummen was taken into custody and booked into the county jail. He is expected to face charges for suspicion of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle upon a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, DUI, fleeing and eluding, destruction of evidence, driving while license revoked and false imprisonment.
