Driver with Suspended License Stole and Crashed Fire Truck

A man reportedly driving without a valid license allegedly swiped a county fire truck valued at over half a million dollars and drove away before smashing into a street sign.

30-year-old Cory M. Fisher lives in Jacksonville, Illinois.

Fisher has had some trouble with the law recently, and the police obtained a warrant for his arrest for allegations of failing to appear for a scheduled court date.

On the morning of June 6, the Jacksonville County Fire Department had one of its trucks parked at the station and left unattended.

According to the authorities, a man hopped into the driver’s seat of the county emergency vehicle and started the engine.

The suspect reportedly navigated the fire truck onto the main road and drove away before the firefighters were able to stop him.

The driver reportedly made a turn onto a connecting street and smashed the fire truck into one of the street signs.

The police were told about the incident, and when they found the truck at the location of the single-vehicle accident, they reportedly identified Fisher as the driver.

The allegedly stolen firetruck, which was reported as holding a value of over $500,000, did not take a lot of damage in the crash. The sign was also damaged in the incident but was reportedly salvageable.

Fisher was taken into custody, and he is facing many charges, including theft over the amount of $500,000, driving while his license is revoked, and reckless driving. According to the authorities, Fisher was already wanted on a warrant for his alleged failure to appear in court last month regarding allegations of possession of methamphetamine and possession of ammunition by a felon.
