Firefighter’s Tampon Prank Lead to Stalking Charges

A firefighter from central Florida was arrested for stalking after allegedly dumping tampons soaked in red liquid on the front lawn of the home where her ex and his new girlfriend live.

According to law enforcement reports, on the night of September 29, the couple, who reside together in DeLand, noticed suspicious activity outside their home. The next morning, they found several tampons scattered across their yard. The items appeared to have been stained to look used. After reviewing home surveillance footage, they reportedly saw a dark-colored pickup truck driving slowly past their residence before a woman exited the vehicle and threw the items onto the property.

Both residents immediately suspected the man’s former girlfriend, who had recently ended a relationship with him and was allegedly upset about the breakup. She had reportedly been posting negative remarks about the couple online and making disparaging comments to mutual friends.

An investigation linked the pickup truck seen in the video to the suspect, who owns a similar vehicle. License plate readers also placed the truck in the area around the time of the incident. When questioned, the firefighter initially denied knowing where her ex lived. After being shown what authorities described as evidence, she allegedly admitted to being present but said that her mother and aunt came up with the plan, saying the three of them bought tampons, painted them red, and threw them onto the property as a prank. Investigators determined the act amounted to harassment with “no legitimate purpose.”

The woman was arrested and booked into the county jail before being released on bond. She faces two counts of misdemeanor stalking, while her attorney has filed a motion to dismiss, arguing that the evidence does not meet the legal standard for the charges.
