A Pascoe County man allegedly became angry and threw a hot dog at a police officer when they tried to stop him from selling the food after the time that his permit expired.
47-year-old Jason Stoll resides in New Port Richey, a 4.6 square mile section of the Tampa Bay area in Florida.
On the evening of July 2, Stoll had a vendor permit to sell hot dogs on the street in Pinellas County. The permit was reportedly set to expire at midnight.
An officer with the St. Petersburg Police Department ran into Stoll and saw that he was still selling hot dogs to customers.
It was close to midnight when an officer decided he needed to enforce a city ordinance that prevents street vendor sales after 12:00 am, and Stoll was approached by the authorities.
According to reports, when the police began to interact with the man, Stoll was in the middle of serving people. The man was reportedly told that it was past the time that the permit had ended, and he needed to stop selling the food to customers.
The police reported that Stoll did not stop selling the hot dogs as requested.
It was reported that Stoll, who was purportedly acting out of frustration, threw one of the hot dogs at the officer.
Stoll was placed under arrest and booked at the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. He is facing a felony charge of battery on a law enforcement officer, and a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest without violence. Stoll was later released from custody after posting $2,500 bail.
If Stoll is found guilty of the charges, he could spend a minimum of 3 years in jail.
