A Waffle House in Florida reported that a man attempted to rob the restaurant and used “finger guns” to intimidate the people in the establishment.
On the evening of October 18, the Waffle House in Madison, Florida, reported that they experienced an attempted robbery during business hours.
A man wearing a hoodie allegedly entered the restaurant with a small dog, and he reportedly announced that he was there to rob the establishment. He allegedly yelled at the workers and patrons and told them to get on the ground.
The alleged robber reportedly picked up some napkins but did not take anything else, before he walked out with his dog and drove away.
One of the employees called 911 to report the incident, and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office sent deputies to the location.
When they interviewed the people at the scene, the deputies reported that they learned the suspect was wearing a hat, and possibly under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The man “did not appear to have a weapon, but did raise his hands with his fingers in the shape of a gun,” according to the sheriff’s office.
The authorities collected and reviewed the restaurant’s surveillance camera footage to try to identify the man.
They asserted that 28-year-old Eward Wiliam Rodriguez, a Madison local, was responsible for the incident, and they tracked down his home address.
When the authorities arrived at his residence and spoke with Rodriguez, he reportedly admitted to the allegations.
Rodriguez was booked into the Madison County Jail. He is facing charges for suspicion of unarmed robbery and assault for the alleged finger gun napkin heist.
No one was reported as being injured during the incident.
