A police officer in North Bay Village, Florida, was arrested and placed on paid leave after Hialeah police notified her department about allegations involving her boyfriend.
The man reportedly had three bite marks on his left arm, one of which broke the skin. Police took pictures of scratches on his face, arms and other parts of his body. Those injuries were documented after he reported the incident to two Hialeah patrol officers on October 6.
According to the arrest affidavit, the man had gone to the officers after leaving his girlfriend’s home. He said the two had been together for two years and that he planned to end the relationship that morning.
The couple had spent the previous night at her home. According to reports, the man said they talked about how he lacked motivation to enter a career in law enforcement. He reported that it wasn’t the first time they discussed it, and it usually caused them to argue because she was not happy about it. The man added that it caused her to become violent on more than one occasion.
He reported that when he said he wanted to break up, the woman stood in front of the doorway and stopped him from leaving. The man said he tried to grab the doorknob more than once. He alleged that was when she grabbed him around the body and pulled him away from the door, and that was when she bit him.
Hialeah special victims detectives investigated the report. The suspect also gave police a statement, but it was redacted from the affidavit.
The woman was charged with one count of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. She was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and later released from custody after posting a $1,000 bond.
