A woman from South Carolina who was arrested in Florida after allegedly driving under the influence and leading the police on a high-speed chase sang gospel songs and urinated on herself at the hospital.
On December 10, a 41-year-old woman was driving a Chevy Suburban down Highway 1 in Marathon, Florida. She was reportedly speeding and traveling against the flow of traffic.
Troopers spotted the vehicle and started to chase after it while attempting to perform a traffic stop. The woman allegedly fluctuated speeds between 90 and 120 miles per hour despite being on the wrong side of the road.
The authorities laid down spike strips to try to stop the vehicle, but the woman was able to avoid them the first time. The second set of spikes took out three tires but did not stop her.
According to reports, at the same time, a marathon with hundreds of runners were participating in an event. When the woman was passing them, the tires began falling off the car. Afterward, she crashed into a construction site.
The authorities reported that she did not speak to them, and she “stared straight forward.” She was transported to the hospital, where she reportedly sang gospel songs and urinated on herself.
After she was released from the hospital, the woman was taken into custody and booked into the Monroe County Jail. She is facing preliminary charges of one count of DUI, three counts of DUI with damage to property or person, one count of reckless driving causing damage to property or person, and one count of fleeing with disregard of safety to property or person. She is currently being held on a $160,000 bond, and she is scheduled for an arraignment hearing on December 19.
