Indiana Man Accused of Brutal Assault

A Fayette County woman was hospitalized after an alleged assault that investigators said left her with serious injuries.

According to court documents, the alleged victim eventually escaped the residence and ran to a neighbor’s home for help. She reportedly told investigators that the suspect had consumed several vodka and cranberry drinks before passing out, allowing her to get away.

Investigators said the woman suffered a severe head injury during the incident. According to the affidavit, she reported that the suspect repeatedly struck her with a metal water bottle, causing a deep wound that exposed part of her skull. Authorities alleged that after the injury occurred, he forced her into a bathroom and attempted to close the wound using superglue. Deputies also observed bruising around her neck.

The alleged victim later reported additional details about what she said happened inside the home. According to investigators, she claimed the suspect ordered her to prepare food for him after the assault. She also alleged that he threatened to kill her, telling her he would be happy if she were dead.

Two days after the incident, the woman reportedly provided further information to investigators. She alleged that the suspect forced her onto a couch and compelled her to perform a sexual act against her will.

Authorities said the investigation also uncovered allegations that the suspect physically restrained the woman during an argument. According to the affidavit, he allegedly threw her to the floor, pinned her down, and strangled her. The woman further claimed that he placed a cloth-like object over her face and poured water onto it, making it difficult for her to breathe and causing her to drift in and out of consciousness.

The alleged victim reportedly told investigators that the suspect had been abusive in the past, but said this incident was the most severe.

After deputies responded to a hospital on Friday and began investigating the woman’s injuries, a 44-year-old man was taken into custody. He remained in the Fayette County Jail on a $450,000 bond. He was charged with two counts of rape while in possession of a deadly weapon, criminal confinement, strangulation, intimidation, and interference with reporting a crime.
