Infant Left Home Alone while Mom went Clubbing

A Florida woman allegedly discharged a firearm in her home before leaving her infant by themselves in their crib while she went to the bar.

37-year-old Victoria Hidalgo is the mother of an infant, and she lives in Port Charlotte. It is reported that she shares ownership of a vehicle with one of her friends.

In the evening on Thanksgiving, Hidalgo was reportedly inside her residence with her baby when she called the friend with whom she shares the automobile.

Hidalgo’s friend said she believed that the woman had been drinking, and she reported that Hidalgo informed her that she fired a gun inside the house.

Hidalgo’s friend went to the residence to see what was going on. When she got there, the woman said she went up to the door and it appeared as if it had a bullet stuck in it.

When she looked around the immediate area, the woman said that she did not see the shared vehicle parked anywhere.

The woman notified the authorities about the situation, and deputies from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the address.

When the woman met with the deputies, she was able to let them into the residence.

The deputies reportedly found Hidalgo’s infant alone in a crib inside the dwelling, and no one knew where she was.

When the police located Hidalgo’s car on the road, they performed a traffic stop and noted that the woman was in the passenger’s seat while a man was driving.

The man talked to the officers and reportedly informed them that he was at Paddy Wagon Irish Pub when he met Hidalgo for the first time. It was reported that he said he could see she was very intoxicated, and he did not want her to drive herself home.

Hidalgo was placed under arrest and booked into the Charlotte County Jail on a $3,500 bond. She is being charged for child neglect without great bodily harm.

It was reported that the infant is safe and in the care of a relative.
